KLUANG: About 200 members of the Sri Lalang Bersatu division have quit the party to join the Simpang Renggam Umno division, just one day before the general election (GE15).
The former Sri Lalang Bersatu division chief Sadiq Abdul Halim told FMT that party members decided to leave because they felt Bersatu did not have a clear direction.
“The members here want a change within the party and after seven years, they do not see it as having any clear direction,” he said after submitting his application form to the Simpang Renggam Umno division.
Sadiq added that the Bersatu members who left the party were from Taman Ria, Kampung Rahmat, Kampung Batu 6, as well as several areas in Sri Lalang.
Meanwhile, Simpang Renggam Umno division chief Zakariah Dulang confirmed receiving the membership application forms, adding that they will be handled by the Sri Lalang Umno division chief Nizam Sulaiman.
“I’m glad these youngsters have opened their eyes and come to realise the advantages of being with Umno,” he said. - FMT
