GE15 | A BN-themed hot-air balloon ride has been ordered to be taken down shortly after it went up yesterday morning.
It is learned that photos of the balloon were circulated on social media yesterday.
However, when Malaysiakini arrived at the scene this afternoon, the balloon has been taken down.
The location itself was only 200m away from the MIC Sungai Siput service centre.
When approached, an MIC leader said that the instruction came from the police as a permit is needed before putting up a hot air balloon.
Meanwhile, residents nearby also told Malaysiakini that the balloon only went up for a very short time and was taken down about 12pm yesterday.
Under Malaysian aviation regulations, permits from the Civil Aviation Authority are needed to fly, moor or launch balloons, including hot air balloons.
