PETALING JAYA: Pejuang’s Sepang candidate Che Asmah Ibrahim said she may not be a “professional politician”, but it is her second nature to serve the people.
Che Asmah said that although she faces two “professional politicians” as rivals for the Sepang parliamentary seat, what sets her apart is that she is a professional who chose to enter politics.
“Although I have never been an MP or an assemblyman, my second nature is to serve the people,” she said as a guest on a Bernama TV talk show.
In Sepang, she is involved in an eight-cornered fight against Rina Harun (Perikatan Nasional); Aiman Athirah (Pakatan Harapan); Anuar Basiran (Barisan Nasional); David Leong Abdullah (Parti Utama Rakyat); R Nageswaran (Parti Rakyat Malaysia); and two independents.
Che Asmah added that she had been working with the department of environment for 28 years and served as its director in Selangor for seven years.
Her stint as a civil servant had taught her how to deal with the people’s complaints and provide solutions to them.
“So even though I am a new face, I bring with me my track record,” she said, adding that she understood the issues faced by the people in Sepang, being a resident there herself for 22 years.
She also said she stands a good chance contesting in Sepang as the constituency could use her expertise to solve such problems as flash floods.
Other guests on the talk show were BN’s Bandar Tun Razak candidate Chew Yin Keen, Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s Titiwangsa candidate Zuraida Kamaruddin, and PH’s Titiwangsa candidate Khalid Samad. - FMT
