PETALING JAYA: Johor prince Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim escaped from a high speed car crash unharmed, his father, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, said today.

Tunku Abu Bakar had been involved in a crash during a qualifying race for the GT World Challenge Australia at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales.

Coming through a section of the circuit, he slid off the road and into the gravel, hit a barrier of tyres before his vehicle turned over.

He emerged from the car unscathed before leaving the scene with medical personnel.

“I am thankful Tunku Putera came out unhurt. Shaken, sure but he’s ok. I told him not to be disheartened, keep going and make Johor proud,” Sultan Ibrahim said on Facebook.

Tunku Abu Bakar and his teammate, Jamie Whincup, have been forced to withdraw from tomorrow’s race due to the damage to their car. - FMT
