  • Shah Hizam, the man involved in a commotion during a stray dog-catching operation that resulted in the death of a dog known as Rocky at Taman Telok Gedong Indah, will be charged at the Klang Sessions Court this Thursday.

Kosmo reported that his lawyers, Rafique Rashid Ali and Mahmud Abdul Jumaat, confirmed the matter after the 24-year-old was served with a summons by an officer from the Department of Veterinary Services.

However, the report said it was still unclear what charges would be brought against Shah.

At a press conference last week, Shah defended his actions during the operation, stressing that he had no intention of killing Rocky.

Shah insisted that he was merely at the scene to execute duties entrusted to him, highlighting that Rocky’s death was beyond his intentions and had also saddened him.

Politics

  • Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin said BN viewed the 16th general election as a turning point or a decision to be dealt with when the time came, rather than by changing its existing commitment to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan at the federal level.

Bernama reported him reiterating in a statement that Umno and BN remain committed and serious about carrying out their roles and responsibilities in the unity government until the end of the parliamentary term.

Speaking at the PKR congress in Malacca last weekend, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said BN will be retained in his government despite escalating tensions between the two, as the latter coalition seeks to gain power through a new partnership with Perikatan Nasional.

In May, BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir said that BN will stick with the government until its mandate ends in 2027. - Mkini
