Lim: Sarawak will decide Najib’s future

The DAP strongman says a Pakatan victory in the state will ultimately be a win for Malaysia.

PETALING JAYA: A Pakatan Harapan victory in the coming Sarawak election will be a crucial step towards removing Prime Minister Najib Razak from his post, according to DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang.

In a speech he gave at a DAP election mobilisation workshop today, Lim noted that Najib had gone to Sarawak numerous times in the past year. He said this was because the Prime Minister was aware that the Sarawak election would decide his future.

“Najib has gone to Sarawak 52 times and claims that it is because he wants to see Sarawak as developed as Peninsular Malaysia,” he said. “But the truth is that he knows the election in Sarawak will determine his future.”

If Pakatan Harapan were to lose in Sarawak, Lim said, Najib would be allowed to boast that the Borneo state would always be on his side.

He said Pakatan’s victory will be a win for Sarawak and ultimately a win for Malaysia.

“We are going to go to war in Sarawak for Malaysia and ensure that we obtain three wins, a win for Pakatan Harapan, a win for Sarawak and a win for Malaysia.”

Lim said DAP must make sure not only to hold on to the seats it already has but also to make a breakthrough in the Dayak areas.

“The fight in Sarawak for DAP is going to be an uphill battle,” he said. “It is likely that Pakatan Harapan will not be able to hold office there, but if we can open the doors for Pakatan Harapan to go in as one unit, one fighting machine, then we can contribute towards Sarawakians being able to finally achieve their long standing aspirations.”
