Rafizi was never handcuffed, says IGP

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli was never handcuffed following his arrest under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act (OSA) on Tuesday, said inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.
"Police confirm that Rafizi was never handcuffed during the entire time that he was in our custody this time. Stop the allegations," he said in a Twitter posting.
Penahanan YB Rafizi R adalah mengikut Undang2 Negara dan@PDRMsia menyerahkan kpd Peguam Negara dan Mahkamah utk buat keputusan
Earlier, Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang also took to Twitter over this after images of Rafizi with his hands behind his back surfaced.
Tagging Khalid, he had asked the police chief to confirm if the PKR leader was indeed handcuffed.
Another image circulating on social media accused Rafizi of deliberately attempting to create the impression of being handcuffed.
The image made up of four photographs shows the MP being escorted by police officers with his hands behind his back.
The last photograph, which is a close up from behind, reveals the absence of handcuffs.
The caption on the image reads, "Rafizi berlakon kena gari. Perangai macam celaka (Rafizi acting as if he was handcuffed. A despicable behaviour".
The Pandan lawmaker was arrested at the Parliament gates for exposing a classified document last month which he claimed showed a link between 1MDB and Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera.
He also gave a statement on the matter to the commercial crime investigations department.
Following his arrest, Khalid said the politician should have been aware of the consequences of his action.
Rafizi has been remanded for three days to facilitate investigations, and risks facing a maximum seven-year jail term for the offence. -Mkini
