Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli said his lawyers are looking at options including legal ones on the possibility of pursuing a legal challenge.
The PKR vice-president and secretary-general maintained that he stands by what is said.
Asked on what would be his next step to challenge the charge, he said that he has been advised by his lawyers not to say anything much.
“We had a long discussion with a team of lawyers because I think the focus would be on the abuse of the OSA (Official Secrets Act)...
“Is the Act not in line with its the purpose? We will be looking at options, including pursuing a legal challenge,” he said after posting bail.
Rafizi was charged with two counts under OSA and another under criminal defamation at the Sessions Court and Magistrate's Court respectively today.
He pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to the two charges.
He said that despite being charged under the OSA, it would not deter him from exposing more scandals.
Rafizi said he always believes there are no gray areas when it comes to matters of right and wrong.
“I do not understand when people are being too calculative. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. What I did was the right thing,” he added.
Asked whether he expected to face a criminal defamation charge in the case involving Tabung Haji, Rafizi said he heard about it three weeks ago.
He said Tabung Haji could have pursued a civil suit but in the end it opted to press for a criminal charge.
Asked about the report of the Public Accounts Committee tabled in Parliament yesterday, he said he no idea what to expect from the PAC as he was under remand.
“However, it does not change anything. It does not matter what the committee says; there remains a lot of unanswered issues. (Prime Minister) Najib (Abdul Razak) can say what he wants but there are a lot of unanswered questions,” he said. -Mkini
