PETALING JAYA: As criticism towards Umno’s move to withdraw its support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin grows, party secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (pic) reminded members to abide by the decision.
Citing Article 6.1.4 of the Umno constitution in a tweet, he said it clearly outlined the responsibilities and rights of a member.
"Article 6.1.4 in the Umno constitution states that the responsibilities of a member are to 'carry out party work and abide by party ethics, orders and discipline', " he tweeted on Friday (July 9).
Ahmad also attached excerpts of the party constitution on the matter.
On Thursday (July 8), Barisan Nasional advisory board chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak, said if Barisan and Umno MPs refused to toe the official party lines, then they must be ready to face the music.
Following the announcement, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has faced criticism from certain party leaders and members who said the decision was unwelcome at a time when the country was struggling to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. - Star
