PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Bersatu would contest the now-vacant Lamag state seat in Sabah if Perikatan Nasional decides to run for it.
However, the Kota Bharu MP stressed that the final decision would be left to Sabah PN.
“We will leave it to Sabah PN, whether they want to nominate a candidate or not. If they want to contest, the seat will be for Bersatu.
“It’s because in the recently concluded Sabah election, Bersatu had contested there,” Harian Metro reported the former law minister as saying after meeting the Indian community at an event in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, yesterday.
Also present was Kelantan Menteri Besar Nassuruddin Daud.
The Lamag state seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent, Bung Moktar Radin, yesterday.
The Sabah BN chief died at the Gleneagles Hospital in Kota Kinabalu following complications involving his lungs, heart, and kidneys.
Bung retained the Lamag seat for another term in the recently concluded state polls, winning by a slim majority of 153 votes in a six-way contest. - Mkini
