Teddy bear may land at PMO if IGP snubs Indira

The Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) warned that they are mulling a march to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) if the inspector-general of police refuses to meet M Indira Gandhi in her attempt to reunite with her youngest daughter, Prasana Diksa.

Ingat chairperson Arun Dorasamy said he had contacted Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M Kulasegaran for an update on their meeting request yesterday, but received no response.

“We haven’t received any updates from them (Kulasegaran and IGP Khalid Ismail). Indira is so frustrated.

“It leaves us with no choice but to march (to) PMO during a cabinet session or post-cabinet (meeting),” he told Malaysiakini.

Malaysiakini has also contacted Kulasegaran on the matter.

On Nov 22, around 200 people marched from the Sogo Shopping Complex to Bukit Aman in an attempt to compel the police to locate Indira’s daughter, Prasana Diksa, who was taken away by Indira’s ex-husband 16 years ago.

The crowd walked with Indira, who brought a stroller with Prasana’s teddy bear, which she had planned to deliver to Khalid.

However, Khalid did not show up, leaving the crowd vowing not to leave the area until Khalid arrives and meets Indira.

After waiting for about four hours, the crowd dispersed following Kulasegaran’s intervention, who promised to get Indira an appointment with Khalid within a few weeks.

In turn, lawyer Rajesh Nagarajan urged Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to censure Khalid for his failure to adhere to court judgments, which ruled for Indira’s daughter to be returned to her.

Later, Gerakan leader Naran Singh told Kulasegaran to resign if he could not reunite Indira with Prasana, prompting the DAP leader to say the case is close to his heart and urged Naran to contribute instead of being an armchair critic.

As of Nov 26, no travel restriction has been imposed on Indira’s ex-husband, Riduan Abdullah, despite a Federal Court verdict instructing Riduan’s arrest for defying a directive to return Prasana to Indira. - Mkini
