BUSINESSMAN Datuk Albert Tei might not be a hero for divulging details about the mining scandal in Sabah.
He was involved in the giving of bribes to politicians in Sabah and to Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskander Mohd Akin. the former senior political secretary of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Tei who lost his investment in the mining scandal sought to recoup his losses by engaging the assistance of Shamsul.
But the latter milked the former over RM600,000 in financial assistance, apartment renovations, expensive cigars and clothing.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has charged both for corruption. Tei might be the person who dished out money to obtain mining license from the Sabah state government but he was conned by the politicians.
Despite this, Tei had the courage to expose the corrupt mining deal in Sabah.
MACC’s flaws
Unfortunately, rather than obtaining the cooperation of Tei to nail other suspects in the mining scandal, the graft buster has instead sought to harass and intimidate him as though they were not keen in obtaining more information about the mining scandal.

There are even rumours that Anwar might be involved in the mining scandal by being the person who instructed Shamsul to facilitate Tei in the secret video recordings of politicians involved in the mining scandal.
Tei is no hero or saint as he was the principal person who gave bribes in the mining scandal.
He has in his possession sufficient details about the involvement of politicians in Sabah especially those from the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
Why should the MACC apply such intimidation tactics on Tei? Are they telling that they are not interested in the further details that Tei might disclose.
The speedy manner in the way Tei and Shamsul were charged indicates that the mining scandal revolves only around these two persons. What about the involvement of politicians in Sabah?
Is the MACC keen to investigate these politicians or the case might be closed with the charging of the two individuals?
The Malaysian public is awaiting for the response from the MACC, the leading anti-graft agency in the country.
