Arab countries have sent Iran a “final warning” regarding the strikes on their territory, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Fidan toured the region this week, and on Thursday, he participated in a meeting with the foreign ministers of 11 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
“The Gulf countries are under intense attack. They are wondering why Iran is targeting their territory, saying they have nothing to do with this war. They say these attacks are unjustified, and they must respond.
“From the outset, these countries have stated that the airspace and bases on their territory will not be used for strikes against Iran,” TRT Haber quoted the minister as saying.
“The Arab Gulf states say that if the strikes continue, they will be forced to take retaliatory measures. At the last meeting (in Riyadh), they issued a final warning on this issue,” Fidan added.
According to the minister, the risks have increased, and Ankara does not want the entire region to be drawn into a long-term war, so it continues to prepare a diplomatic basis for a settlement.
On Feb 28, the US and Israel began striking targets in Iran, including Tehran, with reports of damage and civilian casualties.
Iran is carrying out retaliatory strikes on Israeli territory, as well as on US military targets in West Asia.
