Off-duty firemen rescue two women from food stall blaze

PENDANG: Two off-duty firemen saved two women trapped in a fire at a food stall at the Masjid Al Falah Felda Sungai Tiang food court here yesterday.

The incident occurred at 5.15pm while firemen Muhammad Athir Maula Esaha and Mohammad Anas Elyas were at the premises for a meal while completing tasks related to a state-level Cadet Firemen competition.

The two noticed flames erupting from one of the stalls. While the fire was initially mistaken for normal cooking activity, it was discovered that a gas hose had detached, causing a sudden blaze.

The fire blocked the main exit, and with the stall's cabin door locked, both victims were trapped inside.

The two firemen immediately moved to rescue the women and kept bystanders at a safe distance.

One of the firemen rushed to the nearby mosque to retrieve two fire extinguishers. Using tactical rescue and confinement methods, they managed to douse the flames before they could spread to adjacent stalls.

Both victims sustained only minor injuries and are reported to be safe. - NST
