Bersatu has reiterated its commitment to maintaining good relations with PAS within Perikatan Nasional, its president Muhyiddin Yassin stressed.
Muhyiddin (above) said he had received a letter from PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan regarding relations between PAS and Bersatu, as well as proposals to strengthen PN.
“I have received a letter from the PAS secretary-general dated June 6, concerning relations between Bersatu and PAS, as well as proposals to strengthen PN.
“I will give due consideration to these proposals and bring the matter to the Bersatu supreme leadership council meeting for deliberation.
“Bersatu reiterates our commitment and determination to continue preserving good relations with PAS within PN,” he said in a statement today.

On June 5, Malaysiakini reported that a decision on whether PAS would continue cooperating with Bersatu was expected tomorrow (June 8).
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had previously said that the party’s syura ulama council had deliberated on the matter and left it to the party’s central committee to determine the appropriate course of action.
He said the issue, along with other matters, would be discussed by the body the following day.
“InsyaAllah, we will discuss everything on Monday,” he told the media after delivering his weekly dhuha lecture in Marang, Terengganu.

On Friday, Malaysiakini reported that the PAS syura ulama council had referred the issue of PN’s future direction and internal conflicts within the coalition to the PAS central working committee for further action.
Its secretary Nik Zawawi Salleh said the council viewed the crisis and internal conflicts within Bersatu seriously, which it believed had affected the strength, stability and public confidence in PN’s direction in advancing the agenda of Muslim unity. - Mkini
