Rafizi ally stumps for Harapan, says only one can win

JOHOR POLLS | A long-time ally of Parti Bersama Malaysia co-leader Rafizi Ramli, who is still with PKR, is toeing the party line during the Johor campaign.

Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh was spotted on the campaign trail in neighbouring federal constituency Pagoh today, stumping for Pakatan Harapan's candidate in Bukit Kepong together with PKR central committee leader Adam Adli Abd Halim.

While Rafizi's new party Bersama is not contesting in Bukit Kepong or any seats in Ledang, Syed Ibrahim (above) said that when there are clashes between the kancil party and Harapan - the coalition must win.

"What's important is not the clashes, but what we want to bring about - change.

"As Harapan, we have our strategy and methods to have an impact and give benefit to the people, and Bersama is the same. It (election) is a festival of democracy; we respect each other, and everyone has their strategy.

"But only one can win, and for us, we want the Harapan candidate to win," he told reporters in his typical soft-spoken manner.

Malaysiakini had asked him for thoughts on whether Bersama would have a negative impact on Harapan.

Part of Rafizi’s team in PKR polls

Syed Ibrahim was previously part of Rafizi's team during the 2025 PKR election, which saw the latter being pushed out as party deputy president.

After that, he was among the MPs who joined forces with Rafizi to call for a royal commission of inquiry to look into a judicial appointments scandal.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim later co-opted him into the government and appointed him as the natural resources and environmental sustainability deputy minister.

Since then, he and another Rafizi ally who was co-opted into Putrajaya, Akmal Nasrullah Nasir, have not publicly indicated any support for the Bersama co-leader.

However, Rafizi has said that he had told his MP allies in Harapan to stay where they are now, to keep the government stable and to only make a move once Parliament is dissolved. - Mkini
