Fuad bows out gracefully after being dropped from Bukit Naning

MUAR: Dropped Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Dr Mohd Fuad Tukirin has apologised for being unable to complete his planned welfare initiatives in Bukit Naning after being omitted from the upcoming Johor elections.

In a farewell statement, he said he accepted the decision with equanimity, acknowledging that his four-year tenure as an assemblyman had reached its natural conclusion.

"Every beginning must have an end. This is the reality of life that every person must face with patience and calm," he said.

He said he had strived to navigate the "thorns and obstacles" of public service since his election.

Throughout his term, he emphasised that his administration prioritised the people's welfare and community empowerment.

He expressed hope that the foundations laid during his service would pave the way for a more prosperous Bukit Naning.

"I offer my deepest appreciation to the community for the trust given to me to serve from March 2022 to May 2026. Success does not belong to a leader alone, but is the result of the unity of the people," he said.

The former assemblyman also paid tribute to his campaign machinery and the local community, describing them as the "backbone" of his efforts to develop the area.

Despite no longer being a candidate, he pledged to continue serving the state in different capacities under the Johor spirit.

He made his political debut in the 2022 Johor State Election, where he successfully reclaimed Bukit Naning for BN in a crowded five-cornered contest.

In that election, he secured 5,437 votes to defeat Perikatan Nasional's Mahadzir Abu Said (3,902 votes) and PKR's Md Ysahrudin Kusni (3,317 votes).

Other candidates from Independent and Pejuang trailed significantly behind. - NST
