BN unveils Johor manifesto, makes 63 pledges if returned to power

Caretaker Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi today unveiled BN’s manifesto for the Johor state election, promising 63 commitments centred on preserving political stability and continuing the state’s development agenda.

Launching the manifesto, Onn, who is defending the Machap state seat, said the pledges were built on BN’s record over the past four years after the coalition was given the mandate to govern Johor in 2022.

“Four years ago, the people of Johor placed their trust in BN to lead this state. During that time, we have worked hard together and achieved much.

“Building on that experience and proven track record, I am introducing the Johor BN manifesto, which outlines 63 commitments based on the six pillars of Maju Johor, under the theme ‘Maju Johor, Stability Preserved, Progress Continued’,” he said.

Among the headline promises are a RM100 million fund to improve access to subsidised housing, another RM100 million allocation to strengthen education funding for Johor youths, and the creation of 200,000 quality jobs for Johoreans.

BN also pledged to introduce a rental deposit payment scheme for young Johoreans, continue its first-home, house entry and rental assistance programmes, exempt hawkers and small traders from first-year business licence fees, and increase its interest-free microfinancing fund by RM100 million.

The coalition further promised to strengthen the Johor Compassion Assistance programme through more targeted aid, boost the participation of micro, small and medium enterprises in strategic investment supply chains, continue incentives for Johorean university students, and implement the Semarak Isya’ programme.

Based on people’s needs

Onn said the manifesto was formulated based on the people’s needs, covering employment, business opportunities, housing, education and quality of life.

“These are not merely promises, but commitments built on governing experience, a proven record of achievement and our determination to take Johor further forward,” he said.

Urging voters to return BN to power with a stronger mandate, Onn said Johor’s development should not be allowed to lose momentum.

“The seeds we planted have begun to bear fruit. Do not let Johor’s momentum of progress come to a halt halfway through the journey.

“We have laid the foundation. We have seen the results. Now is the time to complete what we have started.

“Give BN a full mandate to continue delivering on what has already been proven, for a more advanced, prosperous and harmonious Johor,” he added.

Nominations for the Johor election take place tomorrow, with voting on July 11.
