MELAKA: Road users must have been left shocked when a man turned aggressive, stepping out of his vehicle to assault another driver at the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) Highway traffic light intersection near Kandang.
A viral video lasting about a minute shows the man suddenly stopping his Proton Saga before walking toward another car that had stopped at the intersection.
The man is seen punching the window of the other vehicle several times before opening the door.
The man is then seen hitting and kicking the driver.
A woman holding a baby — perhaps the wife and child of the aggressor — is then seen trying to calm the man down and stop him from continuing his attack.
The video, believed to have been recorded by someone in the vehicle behind, was posted online and soon went viral, eliciting many comments from netizens slamming the actions of the assailant.
Acting Melaka Tengah police chief Superintendent Halim Abas said initial investigations revealed the issue stemmed from a misunderstanding between the two men.
He said the drivers of both vehicles were called in to have their statements recorded over the incident which occurred about 6.30pm yesterday.
"They have come to a peaceful understanding. Both have also said they regret the incident and have promised to control their emotions on the road in the future," he said. - NST
