PETALING JAYA:
Police seized drugs and equipment worth around RM135.63 million during a series of raids in Cheras on June 20, which included an abandoned factory which was being used to produce ecstasy pills and MDMA.

Seven people were arrested in the raids at the Pudu Impian IV area.

Bukit Aman narcotics criminal investigation department director Hussein Omar Khan said the total seizure comprised 97.1kg of ecstasy pills, 47.12kg of MDMA powder, 760 litres of liquid MDMA and 5g of ketamine.

“Initial investigations found that the syndicate is believed to have been active since November last year, obtaining precursor chemicals to process the drugs before distributing them in the local market,” he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters today.

In a separate case, Hussein said the leader of a drug syndicate with a “Datuk” title was among 291 people arrested in an anti-drug operation conducted from June 17 to 21.

Nine other members of the syndicate were also arrested during the raids, which saw RM6.26 million worth of heroin, MDMA, ketamine, ecstasy and Erimin 5 seized.

He said the syndicate purchased the drugs in bulk and repackaged them for sale at entertainment outlets.

The syndicate is believed to have been operating in Perak, the Klang Valley and Johor since mid-2024, and possessed equipment and precursor chemicals used to produce the drugs.

Police also seized several vehicles, including a Maserati Ghibli and Mercedes-Benz CL250. - FMT
