Bau magistrates’ court hands down sentence after 20-year-old pleads guilty to publishing personal details on Threads.

Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan meted out the sentence to the man who was charged under Section 507E of the Penal Code for publishing identity information to cause harassment, distress, fear or alarm, Borneo Post reported.
According to the facts of the case, the accused published the personal details of the 16-year-old girl on Threads, including her name, address and school at Samariang Aman at about 6am on April 6.
The victim had been in a relationship with the accused since December last year before ending it in late January.
She later discovered a Threads account under the username “mir_rr4” had uploaded her photographs and personal information as well as allegations relating to debts without her consent.
She confronted the accused and asked him to remove the posts, but he refused, leading her to file a police report.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Fauzulutfi Suriani appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented. - FMT
