
SERI KEMBANGAN: A fifth-floor residential unit at an apartment block in Taman Pinggiran Putra, Seri Kembangan was 80 per cent destroyed in a fire today.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 12.12pm.
Following the alert, a team of 15 personnel and officers from the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.
Operations Commander Saharudin Abd Razak said that upon arrival at 12.22pm, the team found the fire raging in a unit of the five-storey apartment building.
"The fire involved a residential unit measuring 20 x 70 square feet. Approximately 80 per cent of the premises were destroyed," he said.
Saharudin said that the swift action of the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 12.37pm.
"The fire was completely extinguished by 2.05pm. The operation involved two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicles, one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, and a water tanker," he said.
He confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire and the total value of losses are still under investigation. - NST
