The direct contests between BN and Pakatan Harapan candidates in 14 Johor state assembly seats will not affect the coalition government at the federal level, said Umno information chief Azalina Othman Said.
This is because the federal and state administrations operate separately, and that cooperation between the two coalitions would remain intact regardless of political differences, including in opposition-led states, Bernama reported her as saying.

Meanwhile, Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, in the same Bernama report, said one-on-one contests do not automatically favour any party as electoral outcomes depend heavily on local factors.
The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), together with five other enforcement agencies, raided a premises in Petaling Jaya on June 25 over complaints of alleged Shia teachings.
In a statement today, Jais director Shahzihan Ahmad said that there were 147 men, 51 women, and 28 children found inside the premises during the raid.
Shahzihan further said the raids were conducted by 120 personnel from Jais, police, Immigration Department, Fire and Rescue Department, MCMC, and the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).

He added that the investigations into the complaints were carried out in accordance with several provisions under the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995, involving alleged insults against religious authorities, dissemination of views contrary to a fatwa, and publications deemed contrary to shariah law.
The MBSJ had issued a notice over unauthorised building modifications following the raid, Shahzihan added.
The Immigration Department has recently arrested a foreign individual posing as a doctor, who has been working at a private clinic in Subang Bestari.
The raid, conducted on June 25, was carried out after one month of intelligence, where initial investigation showed the suspect also did not have a valid passport or travel document.
The department said the clinic is believed to be operated by another foreign individual, who hired the suspect, and that the clinic issued sick leave certificates (MC) for RM20 per piece, without assessing or examining customers.
ADSThe clinic is also believed to have been operating for the last eight months, and a local woman was issued a notice to appear at the department’s headquarters for questioning following the raid.
Apart from the arrest, the team had also seized medical equipment, the suspect’s and the clinic’s name stamp, as well as tablet transactions record books, Annual Practice Certificate Documents, and Companies Commission of Malaysia documents. - Mkini
