The six-term Padang Kota assemblyman says he has yet to decide on the matter.

“Maybe I will not contest. Maybe only … I did not say no,” the six-term Padang Kota assemblyman told reporters tonight.
“But it remains my duty to continue facing elections until the reins of government are handed over to my successor,” said Chow, who is currently serving his last term as the chief minister.
He said this at the fifth anniversary celebration of the Green Educators’ Workgroup here.
Chow was first elected as the Padang Kota assemblyman in 1999. He also served as the Pengkalan Kota assemblyman for two terms.
He is also the MP for Batu Kawan.
In the last Penang election in 2023, Chow retained the state seat after securing 8,261 votes.
Penang’s next state election is due by 2028, while the next general election must be held by 2027 unless Parliament is dissolved earlier.
Last year, Chow opted not to defend his post as Penang DAP chairman.
Separately, Chow said the word “green” had always been closely tied to his political journey.
He said when he was the state executive councillor for local government, he introduced the Cleaner Greener Penang campaign, which aimed to change public behaviour.
He said the same theme continued through the Penang2030 vision, which aims to make Penang “a family-focussed, green and smart state that inspires the nation”. - FMT
