Ex-PM Ismail Sabri to face graft charges tomorrow

 The former Umno vice-president will be charged before sessions court judge Suzana Hussin at 9am tomorrow.

The case purportedly involves former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s declaration of assets.

Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be charged in the Kuala Lumpur sessions court tomorrow under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act.

Checks on the court’s e-filing system showed that the former Umno vice-president will be charged before judge Suzana Hussin at 9am tomorrow, Bernama reported.

The case purportedly involves the Bera MP’s declaration of assets.

Ismail was previously at the centre of corruption and money laundering allegations, and was called in by MACC for multiple rounds of questioning last year.

The anti-graft agency completed its probe in June 2025.

MACC had investigated the discovery of about RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, seized in raids on the residences of four men and three other premises believed to be “safe houses”.

The probe was reportedly linked to the expenditure and procurement of funds for promotional and publicity activities, under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative, during his tenure as prime minister from August 2021 to November 2022. - FMT
