Malaysia assured of semis spot in Korea Masters men’s doubles

 Malaysia’s new pairing, Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King, will face compatriots Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai in the quarter-finals.

Newly paired duo Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King easily defeated Korea’s Jin Yong-Lee Jong Min in straight games to silence the home crowd.

Malaysia is assured of a semi-final berth in the men’s doubles at the Korea Masters with newly-paired Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King to face compatriots Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai in the quarter-finals tomorrow.

The two pairs join five other Malaysian representatives in the quarter-finals of the World Tour Super 300 championship, which is being held at the Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan, Korea.

The others are men’s doubles pair Soh Wooi Yik-Man Wei Chong, men’s singles shuttler Cheam June Wei, as well as mixed doubles pairs Cheng Tang Jie-Clarissa San, Jimmy Wong-Cheng Su Yin and Loo Bing Kun-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan.

Kai Wun-Roy King were on a roll today as they easily defeated Korea’s Jin Yong-Lee Jong Min 21-15, 21-13 in 35 minutes, to silence the home crowd.

Wooi Yik-Wei Chong showed that their new partnership was working by easily beating Singapore’s Nge Joo Jie-Donovan Willard Wee 21-18, 21-14 in 27 minutes.

They will face either Indian duo Krishna Prasad Garaga-Krishnamurthy Roy or home pair Kim Young Hyuk-Shin Tae Yang in the quarter-final tomorrow. - FMT
