PKR will remain resilient despite betrayals, says Fadhlina

PKR will remain resilient despite the series of betrayals it has experienced in the past and continues to face, says Wanita PKR chief Fadhlina Sidek.

Speaking at the party’s congress today, Fadhlina took aim at those in the unity government who are undermining it, in what appeared to be a veiled jab at Umno-Barisan Nasional for working with opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional in the recent Negeri Sembilan state election.

“We know what is happening around us – we hear all sorts of things. Today, they sit with us; tomorrow, they negotiate with others.

“Today, they defend the Madani government; tomorrow, we hear stories about them berating their own colleagues,” she said in her winding-up speech.

However, the Nibong Tebal MP said the party had endured “far worse” betrayals, referring to the defection of former PKR MPs that contributed to the collapse of the then Pakatan Harapan government in 2020.

“We have seen friends become foes, but Keadilan is still here – because its strength does not lie in who sits at the same table with us, but in us, the members in this hall.

“The people who keep the branches alive, knock on doors, put up flags and endure abuse while campaigning – yet come back the next day. This is PKR’s strength.

“Whatever political manoeuvring takes place out there, we will face it. Whatever obstacles are put in our way, we will overcome them,” she added.

Separately, PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim said the party’s reformasi agenda required patience and consistency.

“Let us not be hasty, as any changes need to be carried out wisely,” he said in his winding-up speech. - FMT
