He said PN is also seeking clarification and details of the complaint lodged by Bersatu, which led to RoS suspending the coalition.
“We do not know at this point. We have been asked to provide an explanation, but we do not even know what the complaint (by Bersatu) is about. So we have asked RoS for an explanation,” he was quoted by Berita Harian as saying.
Asked whether PN had other options regarding the use of logos, he said it was not an issue as any party could use another party’s logo.
“There are many other options. In an election, any party’s logo can be used. In 2018, for example, everyone used PKR’s logo. Bersatu used it, DAP used it, and there was no problem. The logo is not an issue,” he said.
RoS suspended PN following a notice issued to the coalition seeking an explanation over a complaint lodged by Bersatu.
RoS said the suspension, which took effect on Sept 23, was intended to safeguard the organisation’s interests and prevent it from continuing to breach its rules.
On Saturday, Takiyuddin said PN component parties could opt to contest under the PAS banner in the upcoming Melaka polls if the coalition remains suspended by RoS.
On Sunday, Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition was open to discussing PN’s use of the PAS logo in the Melaka election as part of ongoing talks on political cooperation. - FMT
