State exco member Ng Sze Han says the subsidy earlier only covered Rapid KL On-Demand and Kumpool public transport services.

State investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the expansion would enable more users to benefit from the subsidy, which initially covered Rapid KL On-Demand and Kumpool services.
He said more than 90% of subsidy recipients previously opted for Rapid KL On-Demand, with those aged 26 to 35 making up the largest user group at 35%.
“By including KTM Komuter in the scheme, we aim to have a greater impact on the commuter community in Selangor and encourage wider use of the public transport network,” he said in a statement today.
The expansion is being implemented under the Selangor resilience package, an initiative aimed at easing the cost of living, particularly for workers and students who rely on public transport for their daily journeys.
The initiative is managed by Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd (RMSB), a subsidiary of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), in collaboration with transport service providers and a digital payment platform.
The programme will run until December 2026, with 50,000 eligible for the subsidy.
Applicants must be registered voters in Selangor. Eligibility is determined based on voter registration status, rather than residential address or place of employment.
The subsidy covers KTM Komuter services in the Klang Valley and northern sectors, as well as the southern shuttle service.
Eligible applicants can apply through the Nine app by selecting KTM Komuter as their preferred transport service.
Once approved, the RM30 monthly subsidy will be automatically credited to the user’s Nine e-wallet.
Users can then purchase tickets or travel passes through the KTMB Mobile or KITS Style applications by selecting Nine as the payment method.
The state government urged eligible Selangor voters to apply promptly and make use of the subsidy to reduce their daily travel costs. - FMT
