Bukit Aman takes over Syed Saddiq RM5m bribery claim

Bukit Aman has taken over the investigation into Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's claim that he received an RM5 million bribe offer to leave his party.
"My first statement was recorded in USJ, and there was also a follow-up statement, but thereafter it was taken over by Bukit Aman," he told journalists outside the Bukit Aman police headquarters today.
Syed Saddiq said he was questioned by two police officers, who asked, among other questions, about Kamarulzaman Habibur Rahman's police report against him.
Kamarulzaman, a Bersatu founding member who later quit the party, lodged the police report against Syed Saddiq after the latter alleged that other founding members who had quit the party were also offered bribes.

Syed Saddiq previously claimed an individual he referred to as "H", said to be from the Prime Minister's Office, had offered him the bribe.
He also alleged that threats were also made against him and his family.
However, the prime minister's press secretary Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad denied that any such person worked in the Prime Minister's Office.
After recording his statements, Syed Saddiq said the police conducted themselves professionally and thanked them for assisting with the case.- Mkini
