Have cops questioned MACC chief over alleged affair, Gobind asks

Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo wants to know whether the police have recorded a statement from MACC chief Dzulkifli Ahmad over accusations that he was involved in an extramarital affair.

Gobind asked this in response to attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali’s statement yesterday that he had not been made aware of any progress on the case.

“I call upon the inspector-general of police (IGP) Mohamad Fuzi Harun to explain what has become of investigations into the probe allegedly involving Dzulkifli.

“I think the IGP must tell us whether the police have verified the truth, or otherwise, of the contents of the videos?

“The best way to do this would be to ask Dzulkifli himself. Have the police called him up for questioning to assist in this probe?” Gobind asked in a statement today.

A series of videos have been posted on social media, alleging that Dzulkifli (photo) was involved in an extramarital affair, leading to the woman's divorce.

Fuzi had said police were investigating the matter after police reports were lodged over the videos.

Under Section 498 of the Penal Code, it is a crime in Malaysia to entice a married woman.

Dzulkifli described the allegation as "dirty" attacks in response to the MACC's aggressive action against corruption.

Gobind stressed that the investigation cannot be delayed as it involves the credibility of the MACC.

“One would have thought, given the standing of the personalities allegedly involved in this case, that this (questioning of Dzulkifli) would have been the starting point in this investigation and that by now, those basic facts would have already been verified,” he said.

As such, he called upon the new IGP to speak up and demonstrate the “grit in the execution” of his duties.

"This, I would say, is yet another test case that will define his reputation and ability," Gobind said.

Apandi previously announced that the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) had set up a special task force to monitor the investigations into the alleged affair.- Mkini
