Mat Sabu: Anti-kleptocracy rally not rival to PAS' Fastaqim

Pakatan Harapan has no intention to compete with PAS' recent Fastaqim 2.0 rally with its own "Love Malaysia, Eradicate Kleptocracy" rally this weekend, according to the coalition’s deputy president Mohamad Sabu.
"We are not competing with any party, we want to fight only BN," he told a press conference after chairing the final meeting in the run-up to the Oct 14 rally.
PAS had claimed the Fastaqim 2.0 rally, meant to be a show of force in the run-up to the 14th general election, met the targeted turnout of 200,000 people, although Malaysiakini estimated the crowd size to be closer to 50,000.
At the press conference today, Mohamad maintained that Harapan’s own estimate for the anti-kleptocracy rally was around 100,000, despite two large events taking place on the same day.
He insisted that the National Sports Day, as well as the English Premier League football match between Liverpool and Manchester United would not affect the turnout at Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya.
Those intending to attend the National Sports Day celebrations in the morning, and watch the football match in the evening can still drop by for the carnival-like rally, he added.

Mohamad admitted, however, that Harapan component parties would probably not be able to mobilise supporters as it did in previous mega rallies held in Dataran Merdeka, due to the logistics of Padang Timur.
"Another constraint we face is that supporters cannot afford to rent buses to travel to Padang Timur. And we do not fork out money to rent the buses," he noted.
When asked about Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos' plan to sell cheap fish at the rally, Mat Sabu insisted he was unfazed.

"No problem, he can do business wherever in Petaling Jaya. He can sell anything, hopefully there is no provocation with (the presence of) police and security personnel,” he said.
Amanah Youth deputy chief Faiz Fadzil Noor noted that 700 security personnel will be on duty on that day, and said that the choice of Padang Timur as the venue has been met with the approval of the Petaling Jaya City Council.
Mohamad added that police were informed about the rally on Sept 25, as stipulated in the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
"Everything went well, we did not face any problem," he said.- Mkini
