Medical assistant charged with possession of IS material

A medical assistant claimed trial in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today to possession of IS-related material in Facebook.

Mohd Khairul Azhar Hasan, 36, allegedly committed the offence through his Facebook account under the name, 'Khairulazhar Hassan' at Level 24, E8 Special Branch Division in Bukit Aman here, at 12.20 pm on April 3.

He faces Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code which provides for maximum seven years imprisonment or a fine and liable to forfeiture of assets related to the offence, if found guilty.

Justice Mohd Sofian Abd Razak set Oct 23 for remention.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurfaida Mohd Rashidee represented the prosecution while counsel Mohd Hezri Shaharil represented the accused.
