Here is a game changer in Yemen. The Houthis have acquired SAMs (surface to air missiles) which have begun shooting down US and Saudi aircraft over Yemen. Saudi co-aggressors the UAE has also lost two jets over Yemen. Apache attack helicopters have also been lost.
On Oct 1st Houthis shot down an American Reaper drone.
Last Friday they shot down a Eurofighter Typhoon of the Saudi airforce.
In June another Saudi F15 Eagle was shot down.
Here is the news:
On Oct 1 Houthis fired surface-to-air missile, shot down US drone
General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper, north of capital Sanaa
US main supporter of Saudis, admitted losing fighter aircraft.

in June, Yemeni air defense shot down Saudi F-15 fighter

hours before Typhoon shot down, Houthis fired ballistic missile into Saudi
fired Qaher-M2 ballistic missile on Saudi base in Beir Askar, Najran Region.ballistic missile scored hit on Army base
second time in Oct they targeted inside Saudi
My comments: The Reaper drone, Typhoon jet and the F15 Eagle are among the most advanced military aircraft in the world. The Reaper drone can fly up to 50,000 feet up in the sky. The Typhoon and the F15 Eagle can go higher.
This is obviously a new development in Yemen. Firing SAMs requires radar equipment that can detect these planes. The fact that the Houthis can even fire their anti aircraft missiles proves that they have functioning radar equipment which have gone undetected by the Saudis.
These missile strikes would have already dampened Saudi airstrikes over Yemen.
If the Houthis can shoot down a few more Saudi aircraft, it may put an end to the Saudi air strikes against Yemen.
The question is where are these anti aircraft missiles coming from?
Iran is certainly a possibility.
China is also another possibility
Russia is a distant third.
North Korea not likely.
There is a naval blockade against the Yemen.
Someone is flying in the missiles into the country.
The Yemenis have also developed an indigenous capacity to manufacture short range ballistic missiles (modified SCUDs originating from Russia which can be reproduced in the Third World - like the AK47 rifle). That is what they are firing into Saudi Arabia.
As with any war that is going nowhere, as more time drags on, the victims of the aggression will develop better weapons of self defense. This is what is happening in Yemen. But the Saudis have already thrown in the best of what they have got. In other words more Saudi planes are going to get blown out of the sky.
Which brings us to the conclusion.
This is why the Saudis are creating all sorts of diversions to draw attention away from their disastrous war in Yemen.
The public listing of Aramco, the announcement allowing women to drive, building a "women-in-sports-bra-only" resort city along the Red Sea coast, building a multi-hundred billion dollar NEO-M industrial region (by 2030 !!), building an entertainment city in Jeddah are all just bullshit tactics to divert the Saudi peoples' and the world's attention away from the disaster in the Yemen.
All the Yemenis need to do is fire one ballistic missile into the oil fields in eastern Saudi Arabia (which is also majority Shia) and it will sink the listing of Aramco.
(Err ...ketuanan morons at the EPF, Khazanah etc please be forewarned. Dont be too stupid to invest in Aramco. Dont play poker with our money. 'High stakes' poker playing Omar Tiga Lima is no more in the office.)
This really stupid and futile war in the Yemen is going nowhere for the Saudis.
To make things more worse, the US Congress may also pass a Bill that prevents the US from assisting the Saudi aggression against the Yemen.
In the Midle East, many, many times the King's head is served on a platter.
