Annuar urges probe into ‘leak’ of MACC papers on Penang tunnel project

Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa says Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng should lodge a police report over a blog post. (Bernama pic)
PETALING JAYA: Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa today called for a probe into the alleged leak of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation papers by a blogger.
Annuar said the blogger had made a serious allegation concerning corruption in the Penang undersea tunnel project involving Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and other senior DAP leaders.
“How was he able to reveal MACC investigation papers? Aren’t they confidential and subject to the Official Secrets Act?
“Lim should lodge a police report on this. He and other DAP leaders should also consider suing the blogger and hold him responsible over his article,” he said in a statement today.
Annuar said the allegation would tarnish the reputation of an important agency such as MACC.
“MACC must also quickly record the blogger’s statement and find out how many documents are said to have been obtained by him,” he said.
The blog post, which was posted earlier today, has garnered more than 1,200 shares as of 8.15pm.
Aside from Lim, the others named in the blog post include current Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and former state executive councillors Abdul Malik Abul Kassim and Lim Hock Seng. -FMT
