SEMENYIH POLLS | The police have revealed that a BN supporter collapsed and died outside the Dewan Seri Cempaka nomination centre this morning.
According to Kajang police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, the victim is believed to have suffered from breathing difficulties.
"I am still waiting for (further) information, but the preliminary information we received showed that the deceased was in his late 50s.
"It is believed he had breathing difficulties, but we have yet to receive any verification regarding this," he told reporters.
Dzaffir said police received a call regarding the incident at about 9.30am.
The body has been sent to the Kajang Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Dzaffir said a total of 733 police personnel were deployed to ensure that the nomination process ran smoothly.
The March 2 by-election for the Semenyih state seat will be a four-cornered fight.
Pakatan Harapan is fielding Muhammad Aiman Zailani, who is the son-in-law of the late incumbent Bakhtiar Mohd Nor.
Whereas BN is fielding retired UKM administrative officer Zakaria Hanafi, 58.
The other two in the race are PSM's Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul and independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng. - Mkini
