BN will convene a supreme council meeting at the earliest possible date to discuss various issues afflicting the opposition coalition, according to acting chairperson Mohamad Hasan.
Mohamad said that the supreme council will also hear the motion to dissolve the coalition, if MCA proceeds with its previous plan to table the matter.
"It is up to the MCA (to table the motion). Insya Allah (it will be discussed if tabled)," he told Malaysiakini today.
On Thursday, Mohamad said that no supreme council meeting had been held thus far because MCA and MIC were afraid that journalists would pressure the parties on a resolution to dissolve BN.
However, MCA president Wee Ka Siong denied this, stressing yesterday that his party is ready to table the motion first passed by its central delegates last December.
Responding to Wee, Mohamad said today that he would refrain from commenting further, but reiterated that the BN supreme council meeting is set to take place soon.
"It's okay, let him (Wee) have his say... It's okay. I will call for a BN meeting as soon as possible."
Pressed for further details, the acting Umno president merely said: "Up to me lah when I want to call it."
MCA had pushed for the motion to dissolve BN following the coalition's fall from power in the 14th general election.
The election last year saw MCA left with just one parliamentary seat – Ayer Hitam, which is held by Wee. - Mkini
