PAKATAN Harapan is unperturbed by the turnout at Najib Razak’s gatherings in Semenyih, said Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Bersatu president said the crowd last night at Najib’s walkabout and subsequent ceramah would not jeopardise PH’s position in Semenyih as the voters knew who to vote for.
“To me, it is not an issue that will jeopardise our position because I am confident voters in Semenyih are wise.
“They know which leader and party they should support,” he told reporters after meeting locals at a food stall in Beranang with Bersatu candidate Muhammad Aiman Zanali today.
Najib managed to pull in a crowd of 500 people last night at a ceramah held at the Bandar Tasek Kesuma flats.
Muhyiddin said the votes for BN are uncertain, even if thousands show up for their ceramah, and that PH’s chances would not be influenced by the numbers.
He also said that Najib’s administration had crumbled because Najib had taken the people’s money and was involved in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.
“Do not easily forget about the problems. We want to remind you,” he said.
Muhyiddin said that if Aiman was chosen for Semenyih, it would make communications between the state and federal government much easier.
“If Aiman wants to meet the menteri besar, he can just open the door and walk in. Other candidates can come in too, but may take some time.
“I’m just speaking generally,” he said.
The Semenyih by-election is a four-cornered fight between Aiman (PH), Zakaria Hanafi (BN), Kuan Chee Heng (independent), and Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul (Parti Sosialis Malaysia).
The by-election is being held following the death of Bakhtiar Mohd Nor on January 11 from a heart attack.
