RM90 MILLION BRIBE: ATTENTION SWIVELS TO BANK ACCOUNTS OF PAS-LINKED INDIVIDUALS – AFTER SOURCE REVEALS 1MDB FUNDS DID NOT ENTER PARTY’S BANK ACCOUNTS

Authorities have established that no monies from 1MDB were channelled into PAS bank accounts, revealed a source.
The finding was made after MACC investigators scrutinised the Islamist party’s banking details during their probe into a claim that PAS leaders allegedly received RM90 million from Umno.
“(It was found that) there was no ‘RM90 million’ from 1MDB credited into PAS accounts,” said the official close to the investigation.
According to the source, this conclusion was limited to bank accounts held by the party, and not individuals.
However, it has yet to be ascertained if MACC has finished scrutinising personal banking details of several PAS leaders who are also subject to the probe launched by MACC six days ago.
MACC’s top brass and its official communications team did not respond to requests for updates on investigations.
It is learnt that MACC officials are tightlipped on the investigation because chief commissioner Shukri Abdull’s said he doesn’t want to fuel speculations on the matter.
The report, which MACC said was lodged by a member of the public, came after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang agreed to settle out-of-court his defamation suit against whistle-blower website Sarawak Report.
He had sued the portal over its article alleging the Islamist party received RM90 million in return for its support of BN and Umno.
Hadi named Sarawak Report editor Claire Rewcastle-Brown in his libel suit filed in London on April 2017.
Also disclosed by Sarawak Report was that the money could have come from the beleaguered 1MDB.
Since the probe started, MACC has reportedly recorded statements from several PAS leaders, including its central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, and former Bersih chairperson S Ambiga.
