FOR THE LIKES OF HADI & CO, THERE’S ALWAYS A ‘FURTHER EXPLANATION’: PAS FINALLY ADMITS IT’S NIK ABDUH IN DAMNING AUDIO RECORDING BUT INSISTS – ‘IT DOESN’T CARRY THE TRUE CONTEXT & MEANING’

PAS has confirmed that central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz is the man speaking in a controversial audio recording about the party allegedly receiving funds from Umno.

However, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the context in which the recording has been portrayed is not the full picture.

“Yes, Nik Abduh admits that it is his voice (in the recording), but it doesn’t carry the true context and meaning.

“What is said to be PAS receiving money from Umno, that’s not all, there is a further explanation. So for me, to understand the whole context of what is in the recording, one must hear and observe it in its entirety, from the first minute to the last minute,” Takiyuddin told reporters in Kota Bharu today.

“For example, when Nik Abduh said (his father) Nik Aziz also received Umno funds, it is not Umno’s money, but money from Umno members who gave contributions, especially for the Maahad Darul Anwar school.

“Some people follow Umno’s ideology, but when Tok Guru (Nik Aziz) wanted to make a school, they gave contributions. It does not mean the funds were from Umno, but from Umno members,” he added.

The Kota Bharu MP also said that PAS accepted contributions from everyone, and that they did not ask if contributors were from PAS or Umno.

Last year, Nik Abduh had denied allegations surrounding the recording as “nonsense and slander”.

Last week he said the issue was revived to quash Umno and PAS’ blossoming alliance.

The issue surrounding the recording resurfaced after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang settled out of court his defamation suit against Sarawak Report, over claims that party leaders had accepted RM90 million from former Umno president Najib Abdul Razak.
