JOHOR BARU: A car at a petrol station here in Jalan Pasir Pelangi was completely destroyed when it caught on fire while it was being refuelled on Saturday (Aug 10) afternoon.
Johor Baru Fire and Rescue Senior Fire Officer 2 Kilok Lampas said that the department received a distress call at about 12.09pm.
"Some 23 fire and rescue personnel from two stations, comprising two fire engines and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) van, were dispatched to the scene.
"When we arrived at the location, the fire had already engulfed a car and a petrol pump," he said in a statement.
Lampas added that the Fire and Rescue Department put out the fire within minutes and no injuries were reported.
"The fire destroyed the petrol pump, as well as parts of the petrol station's roof structure.
"We are still investigating the cause of the fire and the value of losses suffered from the incident," he said.
According to Lampas, the department's forensics division were still at the location at press time to assist in the case.- Star
