PETALING JAYA: Kelantan PPBM says the Pakatan Harapan-led administration will lose out if it does not appoint Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed into the Cabinet as widely speculated.
Speaking to FMT, the chapter’s deputy chief, Sazmi Miah, said Mustapa had extensive experience in government, having served as a former finance, higher education, agriculture and agro-based, and entrepreneur development minister.
“It’s a waste not to use his experience because he is on our side now.
“It’s like us having Lionel Messi but letting him sit on the substitutes’ bench,” he said in comparing the former Umno man to one of the greatest footballers in the world.
“We have to use him,” he added.
Sazmi said he believed Mustapa can bring a balance that’s missing in the Cabinet which is filled with ministers who lacked experience.
“We look a bit weak because they (inexperienced ministers) don’t understand the administrative system.”
Mustapa today dodged questions on a possible return to Cabinet, saying any decision on the matter is up to the prime minister.
He also declined to comment on any reshuffle in Cabinet portfolios.
Last week, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad refuted speculation that Mustapa would make a return to the Cabinet. - FMT
