KUALA LUMPUR: V. Umah Devi, the wife of Melaka exco G. Saminathan managed to visit her husband at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters here on Sunday (Oct 27).
"We brought his favourite thosai and muruku to mark Deepavali," she said when speaking to the media.
Umah added that Saminathan had lost some weight and said appeared dishevelled during their meeting.
Saminathan is one of the 12 men currently detained by the police for alleged links to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
The visits by family members of the 12 detainees are taking place in two-hour slots from 9am to 5pm on Sunday.
Meanwhile, a man who declined to be named said his youngest brother was among those detained.
"He cried when we met and he hopes that the authorities can free him as soon as possible," he said.
The man added that he and another sibling came from Singapore to visit their brother, who works as a taxi driver.
"We work in Singapore and we only come back once a year to see our family;" he said. - Star
