Bersatu’s Sipitang MP Yamani Hafez Musa has been appointed chairperson for the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra), effective immediately.
His appointment meant all 32 Bersatu MPs have secondary appointments and paycheques, either in cabinet as deputy ministers, in government agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs) or government-related boardrooms.
Yamani (above) replaces fellow Bersatu elected representative Shabudin Yahaya who was earlier this month made deputy minister after just two months helming the GLC.
The Tasek Gelugor MP is now a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of law and Parliament.
According to Berita Harian, Yamani’s appointment was announced by Rural Development Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad today.
The minister expressed confidence that Yamani, 42, would bring an “innovative spirit” and new initiatives to the GLC due to his vast experience in the corporate sector.
Felcra Bhd is owned by the Finance Ministry and manages farmland.
The eldest son of former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman, Yamani exited Umno in 2019 to join Bersatu when it was still part of the previous Pakatan Harapan government coalition.
This also comes amidst reports of concerted efforts by Musa to regain control of the East Malaysian state government.
