PETALING JAYA: Titiwangsa is shaping up to be one of the parliamentary seats to watch in the 15th general election (GE15), with three big names from Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional expected to clash at the polls.
Former federal territories minister Khalid Samad told FMT that he was “most probably” going to contest in Titiwangsa in GE15 instead of Shah Alam, a seat he had held for three terms.
If fielded by PH, the Amanah communications director could be contesting against former second finance minister Johari Ghani and Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
Johari, an Umno Supreme Council member, is widely expected to contest the seat since he had served as the Titiwangsa MP from 2013 to 2018, before losing to Bersatu’s Rina Harun in the 14th general election.
Meanwhile, Wan Fayhsal previously said he was open to contesting in Titiwangsa in GE15, especially since he was the head of the Bersatu division there.
He would be replacing Rina for PN who is speculated to go for the Sepang seat this time around.
In 2018, Rina won in Titiwangsa with a 4,139-vote majority, defeating Johari and PAS’ Mohamad Noor Mohamad. - FMT
