PETALING JAYA: Perlis will get a menteri besar from PAS if Perikatan Nasional (PN) wins the state, says a Bersatu leader.
State Bersatu chief Abu Bakar Hamzah said PAS would be given this mantle if PN wins since the Islamic party had long been established in Perlis compared to Bersatu and had “extensive experience” in managing a state government.
“We (Bersatu) look at PAS as the elder brother and are ready to give our support to a menteri besar from PAS,” he told Bernama.
Abu Bakar said Bersatu’s main goal was for PN to take over Perlis from Barisan Nasional, and then to develop the state.
Bersatu will contest in six state assembly seats and PAS in nine. As for parliamentary seats, PAS will contest in two while Bersatu will vie for one.
There are 15 state seats and three parliamentary seats in Perlis.
BN had held 10 seats in the state assembly prior to its dissolution, while PKR had three and PAS two. - FMT
