PLUS: Plan journeys ahead of long Maulidur Rasul break

PETALING JAYA: Road users are advised to prepare their vehicles and plan their journey ahead, as Plus Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) expects about 1.9 million vehicles using its highways from Friday (Oct 7) to next Monday (Oct 10), in view of the Maulidur Rasul break.

PLUS head of Operation Excellence Mohd Yusuf Abdul Aziz said during the three-day period, road users are advised to carefully plan their journey and expect longer travelling time.

“Since moving to the endemic phase, PLUS has recorded daily traffic volumes similar to pre-pandemic days of an average of 1.7 million vehicles, and the trend shows spikes of 1.9 million vehicles before each weekend and we anticipate this long Maulidur Rasul weekend to be the same.

“We expect with more travellers taking advantage of the 3-day weekend, traffic will be higher and a longer journey can be expected.

“Therefore, we advise highway users to be prepared and ensure their vehicles are fit for a longer drive this weekend,” he said in a statement.

Road users, he said, can plan their journey and get latest traffic information via Plus App or by following their Twitter account @PLUSTrafik or call the PLUSLine at 1800-88-0000.

They can also interact digitally with the PUTRI Chatbot, refer to the variable message signs (VMS) erected at selected locations or by using Waze or Google Maps.

He also advised road users to top up their Touch 'n Go card and as for RFID users, to ensure that their e-wallets have sufficient balance to avoid any inconvenience. - Star

Highway customers, he said, were encouraged to wear face masks in crowded locations.
