Perikatan Nasional (PN) has unanimously agreed to nominate Terengganu Bersatu deputy chairperson Rosol Wahid as its candidate for the Hulu Terengganu parliamentary seat.
Bersatu supreme council member Razali Idris confirmed the matter today while commenting on the latest developments in the discussions between PN coalition parties in Terengganu.
"(On discussions with PAS) Alhamdulilah (thank God), everything is okay and there are no problems whatsoever.
"In terms of nominations, for the Hulu Terengganu seat we will maintain our recommendation of fielding Rosol," he told Malaysiakini.
Terengganu Bersatu previously reported it would be fielding candidates for two parliamentary seats in the 15th general election (GE15) - which is scheduled to take place on Nov 19.
Rosol (above), who is the domestic trade and consumer affairs deputy minister, won the Hulu Terengganu seat in 2018 on a BN ticket before becoming an independent MP and then joining Bersatu after BN's heavy defeat in GE14.
Only winnable candidates
Commenting further, Razali said that PN wished to only field a candidate who could win in this election.
"PN is only looking for a candidate who can win and is good, young and credible, who has character as a representative of the rakyat, we are not just introducing candidates.
"On the contrary, we want to ensure the quality of their service after previous general elections. That will all be taken into account," the Terengganu Bersatu chief added.
In GE14, PAS controlled state and parliamentary seats in Terengganu, while BN only won 10 out of 31 state seats and two out of eight parliamentary seats there. - Mkini
