KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government will take necessary action against the assistant minister to the Sabah Chief Minister for defecting even though he has yet to officially announce his direction to the state government.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said an appropriate approach will be taken against Bandau assemblyman Datuk Wetrom Bahanda.
"It is now up to the government as he is an assistant minister," he said.
"I don't know (his status)... he has been updating about what he wanted. We heard and saw from the newspaper and social media only.
"But in politics, we are already assuming that he has made up his stance (to defect from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah)," said Hajiji today.
In the 2020 state election, Wetrom had won the Bandau seat under the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ticket.
Last week, he was seen attending the Parti Warisan function where he expressed an intention to contest the Kota Marudu seat. - NST
