SHAH ALAM: The Selangor International Islamic University College has been upgraded to a full-fledged university and is now known as Selangor International University from today.
Selangor Islamic religious council (Mais) chairman Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, had presented the official instrument of the change to Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Abdul Razak Jaafar yesterday.
The university is fully owned by Mais. It was established in 1995 under the Private Higher Education Institutions Act 1996.
It offers various programmes at foundation and diploma levels, and courses leading to degrees in Islamic studies, business studies, Islamic banking, education, communications and information technology. - FMT
